Project Description
The “TEENLEADS” workshop aims to combat political apathy among young girls through a series of organized workshops. These workshops address the issue directly, aiming to prevent disengagement and foster a proactive approach to societal matters. By investing in girls’ political education, the program seeks to cultivate a generation of women who actively participate in shaping their communities and country, thereby contributing to long-term societal change. Additionally, the workshop introduces girls to political concepts early on, building their understanding of civic responsibilities and preparing them for active engagement in the future.
Moreover, the workshop provides a valuable networking opportunity for girls to connect with mentors, role models, and peers who share similar interests. This networking aspect aims to foster a supportive environment where girls can exchange ideas, gain guidance, and develop valuable connections that can support their journey towards political engagement and leadership.
These objectives are not only aligned with President Tinubu’s Mandate on Social Inclusion and Political Empowerment but also resonate with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. By addressing political apathy among young girls and empowering them to become active participants in their communities, the “TEENLEADS” workshop contributes to broader efforts towards building a more inclusive and equitable society.
